The Rev. Tim Hancock began his ministry with us on October 1st 2019.
Tim was born into and brought up in a Christian (Salvation Army) home in Uxbridge (West London) which gave him a firm foundation for the faith which he affirmed personally at various stages of his life. He was given key leadership responsibility within the Salvation Army Church at Winton (Bournemouth), leading the Sunday School of 100 children at the age of 21, which enabled him to taste leadership and, over a few years, understand and respond to God’s specific call to become a Church leader. Tim graduated with a BA (Hons) in Economics and Politics in 1981 and trained as a Management Accountant.
Responding to God’s call, Tim trained as a Salvation Army Officer at the William Booth Training College and became a Church Leader at Cramlington Salvation Army in Northumberland (1988-1993), and then at Failsworth Salvation Army in Manchester. Tim moved to Hampshire in 2006 and became Associate Minister at Locks Heath Free Church (Baptist), and after further study at Bristol Bible College gained accreditation as a Baptist Minister in 2009. Tim stayed at Locks Heath until the end of September 2019, taking responsibility for many different areas of outreach and community engagement as well as preaching and teaching.
We are excited to see what the future will hold for Newcastle Baptist Church as we continue to explore what church looks like in the 21st century.
