At NBC we take our safeguarding responsibilities very seriously and are committed to making NBC a safe space and to dealing openly and transparently with any issues raised. The church recognises its responsibilities in safeguarding all children, young people and adults at risk, regardless of gender, ethnicity or ability. This Safeguarding page sets out our approach to safeguarding and the policies and structures in place. If you wish to speak to someone or report anything that may be a concern then we encourage you to do so via one of the routes set out below.
NBC has appointed Verity Bester-Hatch as our Designated Person for Safeguarding (DPS), Thomas Watts as our Deputy Designated Person for Safeguarding (DDPS) and Julie Brock as our Safeguarding Trustee. Our DPS or DDPS are the first people to speak to if you have any concerns around the welfare of a child or vulnerable adult. Their contact details can be found in our safeguarding policy statement (attached below) and our full safeguarding policy (attached below).
If you would prefer to speak with someone outside of NBC, please contact Keith Baldwin on 07903 045670 or email: safeguarding@baptist-heartofengland.org
As followers of Jesus we are keen to follow Him in sharing God’s love and care for everyone that comes into contact with us, particularly children and adults with additional care and support needs. All members of Newcastle Baptist Church commit themselves to the nurturing, protection and safekeeping of all associated with the church and will pray for them regularly. In pursuit of this, we commit ourselves to this policy and to the development of sound procedures to ensure we implement our policy well.
